Dallas-based KDC, a developer of build-to-suit corporate offices and campuses, has signed on to build office space at Peña Station Next — the mixed-use community at the 61st and Peña Regional Transportation District commuter rail station — as well as the adjacent Peña Station North, a 270-acre business park, the company announced Monday.
KDC is partnering with master developer L.C. Fulenwider Inc., which owns both developments. Fulenwider will continue to own the land.
Peña Station Next, which was co-developed by Fulenwider and the airport’s real estate division, is home to Panasonic CityNow, a “smart city” program that incorporates clean energy, smart technology and autonomous shuttles, among other initiatives.
The 400-acre transit-oriented development currently includes 218 multifamily housing units, with another 600 units with ground-floor retail planned. Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Co. operates out of a 112,600-square-foot building near the RTD station and employs 100 people, according to previous Denver Business Journal reporting.
